The Project

JobLink Australia is requiring 200 qualified Cooks to work for Queensland Community Clubs in Australia either under the employer nomination scheme or temporary shortage skills program.

 

Our Client

Members of Queensland Community Clubs located in metro or regional areas in the state of Queensland, Australia.

 

Position Description

  • Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • Preparing and cooking food
  • Seasoning food during cooking
  • Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
  • Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • May plan menus and estimate food requirements
  • May train other kitchen staff and apprentices

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum qualification required: Certificate IV in Hospitality (Cookery Stream) or higher
  • Work experience: minimum 3 years full time as a Cook
  • English language skills: IELTS 6.0 in all 4 bands (General Stream) or equivalent for subclass 187
  • Overall test score of 5 with at least 4.5 in each of the four test components or equivalent in the temporary skills shortage program under TSS

 

Essential Attributes

  • Aged between 18 and less than 45 years old at time of visa application for Subclass 187 applicants
  • Meet qualification and work experience requirements
  • Meet character and health requirements
  • Positive skills assessment from VETASSESS or Trades Recognition Australia (TRA)

  • Confirmation in this position is subject to a successful three (3) month probation period
  • Subclass 482 (Temporary Skills Shortage) visa or
  • Candidates will work under Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa)
  • The visa subclass will be determined by the nominating club requirement

  • JobLink Australia will select 200 highly qualified Cooks onshore and offshore on the basis of meeting the position description, employer’s conditions and candidate’s essential skills and experience criteria.
  • JobLink Australia will screen all candidates and assess potential candidates suitable for this job by conducting the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
  • JobLink Australia will provide Queensland Community Clubs (the Employers) with three nominees and the Employer (the Club) will select their preferred candidate.

 

Project Timeline

JobLink Australia will recruit 200 Cooks within 12 months, starting from Monday, 2nd April 2018 up to Friday, 29th March 2019.

Position Description

  • Assisting clients with personal care activities.
  • Providing companionship and support during daily activities.
  • Performing household tasks such as preparing meals, laundry, shopping and cleaning.
  • Implementing strategies for managing dementia and other health issues.
  • Delivering activities that promote emotional and intellectual stimulation.
  • Maintaining a safe living environment by minimising or removing safety risks or hazards.
  • Transporting clients to appointments, outings and social engagements.
  • Using equipment to assist clients with limited mobility such as hoists, swivel cushions and wheelchairs.
  • Implementing care programs for clients in residential care facilities.
  • Liaising with other health care professionals, family members and carers.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum qualification required: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
  • Work experience: Minimum 2 years in the industry
  • English language skills: IELTS 6.0 in all 4 bands (General Stream) under Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa)

PAID PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Who is this program for?

Training Visa (Subclass 407) is designed for candidates who are either offshore or in Australia and wish to participate in occupational training or professional development in a variety of industries for up to 2 years.

Subclass 407 sponsorship is organised for candidates by Joblink Australia.

This program provides candidates with an opportunity to highlight their ability, capability, and skills to their potential employer. While there is a chance for the candidate to receive offers from employers to extend their sponsorship to a Subclass 482 (Temporary Skills Shortage) visa, Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme Direct Entry Stream), or Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme), this should not be the primary focus for the decision to undertake this visa type.

The Training Visa (Subclass 407) paid professional internship program aims to develop the candidate’s skills in a profession they are already familiar in with both knowledge and experience and looking to progress to the next stage of their career while receiving financial remuneration for their participation in the program.

 

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE TRAINING VISA?

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have an occupation on the list of eligible occupations for this visa type
  • You must obtain police clearance from each country you have lived in
  • You must meet certain health requirements
  • Have functional English language skills – IELTS 4.5 or equivalent
  • Financial support, you might be asked to provide evidence that you can financially support yourself during your stay in Australia
  • Be sponsored by an approved activities sponsor/employer OR invited by a Commonwealth agency
  • Have adequate health insurance while in Australia

 

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A TRAINING VISA?

The Training Visa may allow the applicant to:

  • Apply onshore and offshore
  • Live in Australia for up to 2 years to complete the training stated in your application
  • Leave and re-enter Australia frequently during the validity of the visa
  • Bring eligible family members to accompany you in Australia. Your spouse can work up to 20 hours per week.

  • This is a specialised program and currently offers two occupation lists:
  • The Medium and Long-Term Occupation List (214 occupations)
  • The Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (254 occupations)

What is the Visa Application Process?

There are 3 stages to your Training Visa application.

SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION

Department of Home Affairs assesses the employer’s eligibility to sponsor you.

NOMINATION APPLICATION

The sponsor (employer) must nominate you for one of the occupations on the eligible skilled occupations list for this visa type. For your nomination application a Training Plan needs to be prepared.

VISA APPLICATION

At this stage you will apply for the Training Visa to work in Australia.

HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR YOUR VISA?

Current processing times for this visa type are 54 to 88 days. However, every case is dealt with individually and processing times can change to shorter or longer periods than the estimated processing times. You can find the most current visa processing times on the Department of Home Affairs (access the Global Visa Processing Times page at https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/about/access-accountability/service-standards/global-visa-citizenship-processing-times).

If you enjoy working with children, want to make a difference in the children’s lives by providing quality care and learning experiences from your own nurturing home environment, then family day care could be your career of choice!

 

You’ll be educating and caring for children while encouraging them to become confident, successful learners and creative individuals. You will enjoy the flexibility of running your own business with the support and guidance of your approved service. Based on the demand in your area and the policies of your approved service, you will often determine your hours of work and your fees and charges.

You will also develop tailored educational programs for your children based on their individual developmental needs, interests and experiences.

What is An Educator?

An educator is someone who is running their own business from their home. You look after children in your own home. You can do before or after school care, day care, overnight care and even weekend care. It’s up to you.

An educator takes observations (photos and art samples) from the children and records them into a record of learning book. An Educator also does a fortnightly programme on what the children are doing for the fortnight. We are here to help you to do that, and to make sure that the children are safe, happy and learning new things.

What Do I Need To Be An Educator?

Cert III / Diploma in Early Education and Care: Or willing to enrol and study to gain the qualification.

Blue Card (Working with Children Check)

Reason:  Managing risk to children and young people. If you have a person that lives in your house that are over the age of 18 they too NEED a blue card. This blue card is FREE. This card can take up to 4 weeks before you get it in the mail. (You need this card before you start working as an educator)

First Aid Certificate

(With CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training)

Reason:  So you know what to do if a child is sick or injured. CPR needs to be updated each year. Just ask one of our friendly staff and we can book you into the course. You will need your first aid certificate before you can start.

Public Liability Insurance

Reason: So that you are protected against lawsuits for personal injury or property damage. This can take up to 3 days before you have your public liability insurance. You will need this before you can start your home business.

Australian Business Number (ABN)

Having an ABN will help you do your tax at the end of June each year; you can apply for one online. Website: www.abr.gov.au

An accountant will advise you with all your business needs (tax/super). If you need a phone number for an accountant, please see one of our staff and they can help you find one near you.
